At Sports Physio UK as some of you may have seen we facilitate fortnightly CPD for our therapists. This week we delivered CPD on Falls Prevention this week.CPD is short for continuous professional development, it’s a requirement to ensure as a therapist your skills are always developing. As usual we began our session with a fun icebreaker and this week our new therapist Chris Moulder brought in a wonderful cake made by his girlfriend. Chris is one of our new therapists who will be working from our new clinic in Bury. We think the team will be putting in regular requests for these cakes at the CPD sessions as the cake was delicious. We discussed the management and treatment of older patients. In clinic, 10% of our patients are over 60 years old. It is important that our therapists consider their co-morbidities, medical conditions, previous injuries, current home circumstances and previous work life. Taking this into account enables us to take a more effective and holistic approach to their treatment.During the CPD sessions, we always encourage therapists to ask questions, share experiences, and the sessions are always very interactive.Even though our name suggests we treat just sports related injuries, for many of you who are loyal clients at our clinic, you will know this is far from the truth. We treat a whole range of ages with all kinds of presentations addressing both physical and psychological needs. We like to think we have everything you need and if we can’t help you then we may know someone who can.As always, the session was fun and enjoyable and an opportunity for the team to get together and develop. To see what the team has been up to click here.Keep following our blogs.
