Blue Running Man joins Team Ash for the Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride 9th July 2017
[rev_slider alias="Blue Running Man Event"]Team Ash took to their bikes once again this year to ride from Manchester to Blackpool, a whopping 62 miles. They complete this ride every year in memory of Ashley Livesey who passed away aged 15 from SADS in 2004. The money raised is used to buy defibrillators for the local community.Ashley was a young man filled with such a love for life, he was well liked amongst his peers and loved by all who knew him. Ashley started the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride with his dad Gary at the young age of 11. In fact, Gary has said that he struggled to keep up with Ashley on the bike ride as he loved to peddle away and often it was Gary who was doing the chasing. Ashley was known for his practical jokes and sense of humour, he was also a dedicated member of the cadets and you would often see Ashley walking through the streets of Shaw proudly wearing his cadet uniform.On March 20th, 2004, Ashley took part in a cross-country race for his School, he loved to run and was excited for the race he had agreed to take part in. Sadly, during this race, Ashley passed away from something that you may be familiar with ‘SADS’ (Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome). Ashley passed away doing something he loved to do and today, 13 years on TEAM ASH still ride in his memory.Our Blue Running Man joined this year’s event, he came along to support the team and although he hadn’t done any training, he eventually completed the ride.He told us that he was proud to be riding alongside the team and that he would definitely do it again next year. He also said it was nice to bump into other running men and a pink running lady, could there be a romance blossoming?Teddy the Cavapoo even came along for the ride this year, his role was to greet all the riders throughout the day, at only 9 months old he did a cracking job.If you didn’t donate, then don’t worry there is still time, just click here and it will direct you to the just giving page.
